Entha Manchivaadavuraa Movie Review

‘Entha Manchivaadavura’, starring Nandamuri Kalyanram and directed by Satish Vegesna, is out in the theatres. What works and what doesn’t in the movie? Let’s know here.

Story:

When he was a child, Balu (Kalyanram) was orphaned due to a car accident. His relatives didn’t want to look after him and so, he had to grow up in a hostel, away from familial attachments. Unaffected by the painful phase of his life, Balu becomes a positive-minded youngster who always itches to give love to others. He, in partnership with his friends, establishes a company that “supplies” lovely people to needy ones. In the process, Balu locks horns with a sand mafia goon, played by Rajeev Kanakala. The rest of the film is about what ensues in his life after this.

Analysis:

Director Satish Vegesna is clearly obsessed with his only super-hit till date, ‘Shatamanam Bhavati’ (2017). In ‘Entha Manchivaadavura’, you will find a number of tropes that clicked in that movie. There are selfish sons who have settled in America and Australia, there are old-aged characters who feel isolated, there are scenes that extol the value of relationships and, above all, there is a protagonist who knows what exactly needs to be done to bring Heaven to earth.

Clinging on to ‘Shatamanam Bhavati’ is not the biggest problem. The trouble is that the director delivers the quality of ‘Srinivasa Kalyanam’, his big flop, in telling the story of an orphan who has a laughable “solution” to people’s loneliness. We have been told in life that nobody can replace our dear ones. You may miss your son, but none can replace him for you, no matter how noble that person is. Blood is thicker than water. This film throws this basic tenet of human life and builds a whole silly film around the idea of strangers coming to the home of lonely people and giving them love in a matter of hours.

When Kalyanram says that he will establish an organization named All Is Well Emotion Suppliers (what the hell?!), Mehreen Pirzada, Praveen, Sudarshan and Pooja Ramachandran agree as if he just came up with a workable business plan.

The love track is simply plastic. There is no chemistry whatsoever between Kalyanram and Mehreen. That duet shot in picturesque locations works because of the music director and the cinematographer.

There are half-a-dozen comedians but the only one who registers in the audience’s mind is Vennela Kishore. Senior Naresh passes muster. Prabhas Sreenu, Praveen and Bhadram are barely there. Sudarshan’s satirical take on sensational YouTube thumbnails is okayish.

Kalyanram has tried hard to lift the film but he fails to do so mainly because of the dull characterization. Gopi Sundar gets the SPB song right, while the visuals are good.

Bottomline: The story of ‘Entha Manchivaadavuraa’, which is remake of Gujarati movie ‘Oxygen’, is not developed to suit the evolving tastes of the audience. The narration is so old-fashioned.
