Mantra 2 – Movie Review

Movie: Mantra 2
Cast: Charmee, Chetan and others
Music: Sunil Kashyap
Produced by: Green Movies
Directed by: S V Sateesh
Release date: July 31, 2015

Charmee starrer Mantra 2 has come to theatres. Earlier she starred in “Mantra” which had fared well. The only connection between the two films is that it has Charmee in it. The movie is not exactly a sequel to the original movie though it is called as such. Mantra 2 is a horror thriller.

Mantra (Charmee) is from Vizag. She has lost her parents. After securing a job in Hyderabad, she moves to the city. All her life she stayed in hostels. This time for a change she wants to stay with a family. Her driver helps her to get an accommodation with an old couple. Charmee feels that someone is trying to attack her in Hyderabad. She tells this to her police friend (Chetan). The police with help of some media people find out that the old couple Mantra was staying with died two years ago. So is Mantra a ghost? Real drama unfolds from here.

Charmee’s acting in the film isn’t very impressive, she has done just okay. Also she does not exhibit much glamour show as she did in the original “Mantra”. Chetan as police officer is good. We won’t even bother to mention the others.

Technically there is nothing to rave about in this film. Everything seems substandard. Music by Sunil Kashyap fails to impress. Director S V Sathish doesn’t know much about direction. At least that’s the impression we get when we see this film. First half of the film drags. Post interval there are some interesting scenes. But the climax lets you down.

Overall, Mantra 2 doesn’t have much to offer. The storyline and setup has been seen before. Except Charmee there is nothing interesting here. Director’s inexperience is very prominent. Bad production and writing let the film down heavily. Mantra 2 fails to thrill.

Bottom-line: Amateurish thriller
