Nandini Nursing Home – Movie Review

What’s it about?
Chandrasekhar aka Chandu (Nawin) is a fake doctor. He is a MA but works as a doctor in Nandini Nursing Home. When he saves Nandini  (Nithya) from an accident in an elevator, she starts loving him. As Chandu was ditched by Amulya (Swetha) not long ago, he does not reciprocate to Nandini. A death due to Chandu’s negligence in hospital leads to several problems. Another death also happens in the same hospital. People say there is a ghost in the hospital. Is the ghost killing the patients?

Analysis:

This is debut movie of Nawin Vijaya Krishna, son of actor Naresh. ‘Nandini Nursing Home’ has a ghost story but that angle comes only in the final portion of the movie. The film first begins as comedy film and turns into a ghost story.
The reason cited for an MA post graduate given the job of doctor in a hospital completely defies logic. And hero’s side kick (played by Shakalaka Shankar) also behaves of knowing nothing about medicine despite he is given the job of paramedical. All this is done for the sake of comedy! While some of the comic situations are funny, rest is drab. The entire concept has been dealt shabbily.

Post interval, the ghost element (Aatma entering into another person) is introduced but the so-called twist seems more as forceful gimmick. Also there is some lengthy comedy track on Vennela Kishore, Shakalaka Shankar and Saptagiri, which gives mixed results – some jokes work out, some don’t.

Technically the film has nothing to rave about. Some songs are pleasing to the ears.

In his debut, Nawin got bad script. His inexperience in acting is clearly visible in every scene. Both the leading women of the film are a big waste. They fail to emote. Vennela Kishore and Shakalaka Shankar give some comic relief but Sapthagiri overacts. Direction is mediocre.

Bottom-line: ‘Nandini Nursing Home’ generates some laughs but the movie is overall an amateurish effort from the new director.
