What’s it about
Vijay (Raj Tharun) and Keerthy(Hemal) try hard and convince their parents for their wedding. Happy with this development, Vijay draws money from an ATM and gives a party to his friends. Things get tense when Vijay comes to know that the money with which he paid the bill is fake. Vijay gets arrested and his case is highlighted in the media. Left with no choice, Vijay decides to prove his innocence by solving the case himself. How will he do that is the basic storyline of the film.
Analysis
This is the first time Raj Tharun has attempted a serious thriller and one can say that he has done a fair job in his role. The film has an interesting premise and begins well. But the director loses grip on the story pretty soon. The thrills that he brings are not at all interesting. The emotions are forced and look fake in many areas.
Also, Raj Tharun gets things done way too easily and this looks odd. The screenplay needs to be blamed as it does not arrest you. The way the thrills and twists are shown, one can expect them to arrive from a distance.
But the saving grace is Poorna who plays a CM candidate. She is the best part of the film with a solid performance. The BGM which is key for any thriller is not up to the mark in ‘Power Play’.
Director Vijay Kumar Konda attempts a thriller for the first time and tries to narrate two parallel plots side by side and tries to mix them in the end. But the way he treats the scenes is not that impressive and it ends up as a bore.
