Ravi Teja’s latest outing “Mass Jathara” opened in theaters on Friday with paid premieres and a wide release on Saturday. However, the film registered disappointing collections over its opening weekend.

Including Friday’s premiere shows, “Mass Jathara” managed to earn around Rs 11 crore gross worldwide in its first weekend. This is one of the lowest opening figures in Ravi Teja’s career. Despite an encouraging Rs 3 crore-plus from premiere shows, the film saw minimal growth on Saturday and Sunday.

The movie received a lukewarm response from critics and audiences, with many pointing to its formulaic narration as a major drawback. Negative word-of-mouth further impacted its box office prospects.

Adding to its woes, the release of “Baahubali: The Epic” during the same weekend proved to be a strong competitor. The Rajamouli spectacle collected Rs 23 crore net in India in its opening weekend and performed impressively in overseas markets, particularly North America, leaving “Mass Jathara” struggling to find its footing.

It has been quite some time since Ravi Teja delivered a solo blockbuster. His last notable success came with the multi-starrer “Waltair Veerayya”, where he played an extended supporting role alongside Chiranjeevi. As a lead hero, he has not delivered a hit in the last couple of years.
