Rajinikanth celebrates 75th birthday and 50 years in cinema

Superstar Rajinikanth today celebrated a landmark double milestone: his 75th birthday and 50 glorious years in Indian cinema. Tributes poured in from across the country, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who praised Rajinikanth’s captivating performances across genres and wished him a long, healthy life.
Kamal Haasan shared a heartfelt photograph of the duo shaking hands, calling it a celebration of “75 years of a remarkable life and 50 years of legendary cinema.”
Colleagues and friends from the film industry also marked the occasion with special wishes. Adding to the festivities, Sun Pictures released behind-the-scenes footage from “Jailer 2,” which is slated for a June 2026 release and is currently under production.
Rajinikanth’s recent films continue to keep him at the forefront of Indian cinema. “Jailer” was a massive blockbuster, reaffirming his box-office pull nationwide. His film “Coolie” also grossed more than Rs 600 crore worldwide and he is now actively working on Jailer 2, collaborating once again with director Nelson for another high-octane entertainer.
Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan are also collaborating on a new film very soon.
