Actress Trisha Krishnan has strongly responded after a BJP leader made objectionable remarks about her while targeting Vijay, whose political party is gearing up for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections.

Sharing a statement issued by her lawyer Nithyaesh Natraj on Instagram, Trisha asserted that disrespect must be called out. “Disrespect should and always will be called out,” she wrote, making her stance clear.

The controversy began after the political leader alleged that Vijay should “come out of Trisha’s house and stay with his wife,” implying an inappropriate relationship. The comment was widely criticized as distasteful and unnecessary.

In the official statement, Trisha’s lawyer expressed shock that such remarks came from a person holding a significant position in the state’s political space. The statement clarified that Trisha has no political alignment and has always maintained a neutral stand. It further emphasized that she wishes to be known for her art and craft rather than being dragged into political narratives.

“Personal lives should never be made the subject of public commentary or discourse,” the statement read, urging restraint and responsibility.

Trisha and Vijay have worked together in multiple films over the years. Vijay, who is married to Sangeetha and has two children, has often faced link-up rumours with his co-star. Notably, his son is set to make his directorial debut with “Sigma” starring Sundeep Kishan.

Concluding the note, Trisha’s legal team requested that her name not be drawn into matters that do not concern her.
