‘Gautamiputra Satakarni’ has landed in legal trouble over entertainment tax exemption. Both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana governments have declared tax exemption to this historical movie on the grounds that the film depicting the story about a great Telugu emperor.

Challenging this decision, a lawyer filed PIL in court and High Court questioned both the state governments to explain the solid reasons to exempt the movie from entertainment tax. Petitioner Adarsh Kumar said ‘Satakarni’ doesn’t fall in the criteria for Andhra Pradesh Government’s revenue tax while the government issued G.O under this.

Telangana Government’s Advocate General informed the court that they have not issued any G.O. yet though a decision was taken. So, the tax exemption for this movie depends on the judgement of High court.
