Chennai Love Story off to flying start, posts Rs 7 Crore WW gross on Day 1

Kiran Abbavaram and Sri Gouri Priya’s “Chennai Love Story” has taken a strong start at the box office, posting an impressive Rs 7.2 crore worldwide gross on its opening day.
The film got off to a flying start with special premiere shows across Telangana and Andhra Pradesh on Thursday night, which generated a significant share of the opening collections. On Friday, its first official day in theaters, the romantic drama grossed around Rs 5 crore, making it one of the biggest openings in Kiran Abbavaram’s career.
The film also witnessed encouraging traction on BookMyShow, selling around 150,000 tickets from the premiere shows and Friday combined, indicating strong audience interest in the domestic market.
Overseas, Chennai Love Story collected approximately Rs 2.20 crore, including around $150,000 in North America from the premiere shows and the first day. This took its total worldwide gross to Rs 7.2 crore.
Directed by Ravi Namburii and produced by Sai Rajesh and SKN, the film features music by Mani Sharma. While critics praised its emotional and engaging first half, many felt the second half could have been stronger. Despite the mixed reviews, the film appears to have connected well with younger audiences.
With a solid opening and positive word of mouth among its target audience, Chennai Love Story has built strong momentum. The focus now shifts to its Saturday and Sunday performance, which will determine whether it can maintain this impressive start.
