Akhil Akkineni has finally scored the box office success he was waiting for. His seventh film, “Lenin,” has posted impressive numbers in its opening weekend, grossing an estimated Rs 37 crore worldwide, making it the biggest opening weekend of his career.

Directed by Murali Kishor Abburu and jointly produced by Nagarjuna Akkineni and Naga Vamsi, the film stars Akhil in the title role alongside Bhagyashri Borse. Of the total worldwide gross, the film collected around Rs 29 crore in India, while the overseas markets contributed approximately Rs 8 crore.

In North America, Lenin earned an estimated $540k during its first weekend. Having crossed the half-million-dollar mark, the film is well-positioned to finish its theatrical run with around $1 million, provided it maintains a steady run.

The success comes as a major relief for Akhil Akkineni, who stayed away from the big screen for nearly three years following the failure of “Agent.” He dedicated considerable time and effort to Lenin, while his father Nagarjuna Akkineni actively promoted the film and expressed hope for its success.

The real test, however, begins now. The film’s performance during the weekdays will determine whether it can sustain its momentum and emerge as a major commercial success.
