Trisha’s popularity has witnessed a remarkable surge this year. The 43-year-old actress scored a massive hit with Suriya-starrer “Karuppu” and has also seen her fan following grow significantly amid the political buzz surrounding Tamil Nadu Chief Minister Vijay. As a result, several big-budget Tamil films are reportedly eager to secure her dates.
However, producers are said to be surprised by the remuneration she is now quoting. According to industry buzz, a production house planning a pan-Indian Tamil film with a leading superstar recently approached Trisha, only to learn that she was seeking a fee of Rs 15 crore. The makers are reportedly negotiating with her team in an effort to bring the amount down to around Rs 10 crore.
Until now, Nayanthara has largely been considered the highest-paid actress in Tamil cinema, commanding remuneration in the Rs 10 crore range. If the reports are true, Trisha’s latest demand would place her above that mark.
Interestingly, Trisha reportedly charged around Rs 4 crore for “Vishwambhara”, which is still awaiting release. Within just two years, her market value appears to have increased dramatically. Whether producers are willing to meet her reported demand remains to be seen. Given her current popularity and strong box-office momentum, many believe filmmakers may eventually agree to pay a significantly higher fee.
