Abhishek Nama reveals the inspiration behind Nagabandham

Director Abhishek Nama says “Nagabandham – The Secret Treasure” is inspired by the mystery surrounding the unopened Vault B of the Anantha Padmanabhaswamy Temple. He imagined a fictional adventure around what could be hidden inside such a vault and developed it into a fantasy treasure-hunt film.
The epic fantasy stars debutant Virat Karrna, Nabha Natesh, Iswarya Menon, Jagapathi Babu, Mahesh Manjrekar and Rishabh Sawhney. Produced by Kishore Annapureddy and Nishita Nagireddy under Nick Studios, the film is set for a worldwide release on July 3.
Abhishek Nama said he chose Virat Karrna because the film is driven by the story rather than star image. The project eventually crossed the Rs 100 crore budget mark, with most of the expenditure going into elaborate sets, artwork and CGI. Nearly 80% of the budget was spent on production and visual creation.
The team recreated a fictional temple inspired by their visit to the Padmanabhaswamy Temple, using sketches and cinematic imagination instead of directly depicting the real shrine.
Nama also revealed that “Nagabandham” will release in over 2,500 screens worldwide. He described the film as a family-friendly commercial fantasy with mythology-inspired elements and said the positive response to the teaser and trailer helped close all major business deals.
He added that there is strong scope for “Nagabandham 2”, and a sequel is already under consideration.
