Keerthy Suresh’s flop streak with female-centric films continues

Keerthy Suresh

Keerthy Suresh is a national-award-winning actress. She can pull off any role, be it a complex role Savitri in ‘Mahanati’ or a lighter vein character. But the image she has earned after ‘Mahanati’ seems to be causing her trouble. She has signed a series of women-centric films after the release of the 2018 Savitri biopic.

None of her women-centric films have clicked at the box office. Nor did they win critical praise. After ‘Penguin’ and ‘Miss India’, the latest release ‘Good Luck Sakhi’ tanked at the box office. It received an aggregate of 1 to 1.5 ratings from critics.

That brings the question to the fore: did she sign the films without much thinking?

Whatever be the reason, Keerthy Suresh’s image got dented. She now needs to regain it with Mahesh Babu’s ‘Sakaru Vaari Paata’, which is scheduled to release this summer. ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’ is an out-and-out commercial entertainer. Since it is a big film in her career, she might regain her mojo.

Keerthy Suresh also plays a sister’s role in Chiranjeevi’s ‘Bholaa Shankar’. But for now, filmmakers would not think of doing female-centric movies with her.
