Ram Charan – Interview

Ram Charan is happy with the response for his latest release Govindhudu Andari Vaadele. Getting appreciation from audiences for performance is most exciting part, says Ram Charan. Excerpts from chitchat…

Working with Krishnavamsi
I have always been fan of his work. I don’t give too much importance to the director’s commercial status. I never run after successful directors. Story is more important than the director’s past hits. That is why I said yes to Krishnavamsi sir’s script. I believed in his story and did without hesitation. Today I am very happy with the result and appreciation that I am receiving.
One thing that I have learnt from him is that never compromise on the output. He told me that an actor can enhance the performance even more at dubbing stage too. That I have learned from him.

Special chemistry with Kajal Agarwal
She is good friend. From Magadheera to GAV, we have worked in four films together. She is also very close to my wife Upasana. This personal bonding reflects on our chemistry. I am always at ease with her. And she looked even more beautiful in this film.

About films that didn’t take off
As I said earlier, I always give preference to scripts. The reason why my film with director Koratala Siva didn’t go to the sets is that I didn’t find the script that he narrated is ideal for me. We launched the movie as the producer insisted on auspicious muhurtham. We thought once the pooja was done, we can work on the script but the story didn’t satisfy me. Same is the case with Merupu.

Failure in Hindi film industry
It was a lesson for me. I accept that I got lot of negative comments for Zanjeer remake. New improvised plans for Bollywood are on its way. I will soon announce my next Hindi film.

Chiru’s 150th film
I will be producing this film. We have heard some scripts. But final decision is yet to be taken. Regarding the question about whether I act in the film, it all depends on the script that we finally chose from.

Manirathnam film
It is every actor’s dream to act under the direction of Manirathnam. He came to Hyderabad and has narrated a story to me but the script did not suit me. I told the Mani sir frankly and he understood my concerns. Hopefully we would do his next movie that he is planning.
