A big setback for Atlee in Bollywood

Atlee made a huge impact in Bollywood when he delivered a record-breaking hit with his maiden directorial, “Jawaan,” starring Shah Rukh Khan. After scoring four blockbusters in Tamil, he moved to Bollywood and directed Shah Rukh Khan.

He established himself as one of the top directors with “Jawaan” and even went to direct a video for India’s richest businessman Mukesh Ambani’s son Anant Ambani’s wedding.

He hoped to conquer Bollywood further by scoring a hit as a producer. He co-produced “Baby John,” the official remake of his own Tamil film “Theri.”

But the film has not performed as expected at the box office, earning a mere Rs 30 crore (nett) by its fifth day against a budget of Rs 160 crore. People have already declared the film, starring Varun Dhawan and Keerthy Suresh, a huge flop.

Atlee will be announcing his next directorial project in Bollywood featuring Salman Khan, a Hollywood actor, a South Indian superstar, and a Korean actor. But as a producer he received a huge setback with “Baby John.”
