SS Rajamouli and Mahesh Babu’s much-hyped project “Varanasi” is set to begin its next shooting schedule shortly. Mahesh Babu, who recently returned from his New Year 2026 vacation, is ready to resume work on the film.
At the time of the title announcement and glimpse release, SS Rajamouli had officially confirmed that “Varanasi” would hit theatres in summer 2027. Now, the latest buzz suggests that the makers are eyeing April 9, 2027, as the film’s release date.
Interestingly, April 9 coincides with the auspicious festival of Sri Rama Navami. Since “Varanasi” is inspired by the Ramayana and Mahesh Babu is said to appear briefly as Lord Rama, a Rama Navami release could significantly amplify the film’s spiritual connect and promotional buzz.
Produced by KL Narayana along with SS Karthikeya, “Varanasi” has already generated massive anticipation across the country.
The film boasts a strong ensemble cast, with Priyanka Chopra Jonas as the female lead and Prithviraj Sukumaran in a pivotal role. Prakash Raj has also recently joined the cast, further adding weight to the project.
