Bhumika Chawla breaks down at ‘Euphoria’ grand release press meet

At the grand release press meet of director Gunasekhar’s latest film Euphoria, actress Bhumika Chawla turned the spotlight away from glamour and on to raw emotion. Addressing the media, the actress became visibly emotional as she spoke about how deeply the film affected her, revealing that she “couldn’t sleep” after watching it the previous night. With Euphoria set for a theatrical release on February 6, 2026, her heartfelt words have sharply raised expectations around this hard‑hitting social drama.

A bold social drama that “takes real courage”

Euphoria is positioned as a contemporary social drama/psychological thriller that deals with youth, parenting, drug abuse, juvenile crime and the moral dilemmas of modern society. The story tracks a teenager whose dreams of becoming a civil servant are derailed after a single night drags her into a dangerous world of narcotics and crime, with Bhumika playing a pivotal, emotionally loaded role as a mother whose choices come under severe scrutiny.

Talking about the movie on stage, Bhumika emphasized how Euphoria wasn’t a regular commercial entertainer as it required “a lot of guts” to make. This is quite a forceful, risky subject and she added that it takes true conviction from the director and producers to back this. She, in particular, thanked producer Neelima Guna and the team for having the courage to stand behind a sensitive story which she feels is also a risky proposition commercially.

“I watched the film… and I couldn’t sleep”

She congratulated director Gunasekhar for bringing out a story with such “hard hitting facts,” from drugs to the pressure of teenagers, and saying – that still it was a film he addressed as one for “families & parents”. She cited the performances of co actors like Vignesh Gavireddy, Likhita Yalamanchili and others as noteworthy for having lived rather than performed the roles. Despite her extensive experience, Bhumika modestly claimed that she still feels a lot to be learnt as an actor and the experience of working in a film like Euphoria just made her realise it all over again. Her words resonated what the team has been sharing at previous events – that the ensemble cast of the film, with Bhumika and young talent such as Sara Arjun in tow, is one of its biggest takeaways.

“Please watch and support us on February 6”

Towards the end of her emotional address, Bhumika turned directly to the audience and urged them to support Euphoria in theatres. She requested that viewers come with their families, especially parents and youngsters, and give the film a chance.
