Adivi Sesh’s upcoming film “Dacoit” has been officially pushed out of its March 2026 release window, with the makers yet to lock a new date. The film was earlier scheduled to hit theatres on March 19, but will now avoid a direct box-office clash with “Dhurandhar: The Revenge.”
The decision comes in view of the massive pan-India release planned for “Dhurandhar: The Revenge,” which is set to arrive in five languages worldwide on the same date. Trade circles suggest the makers of “Dacoit” felt it would be difficult to secure adequate screens, particularly in the Hindi market.
The film has had a prolonged production journey marked by delays. Shruti Haasan, who was initially cast as the female lead, exited the project due to creative differences. Mrunal Thakur later joined the film, forcing the team to reshoot all previously filmed portions, significantly impacting timelines.
Although Adivi Sesh had earlier stated that competition would not influence the film’s release strategy, the team has now opted for a safer window. A new release date is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Touted as an action-packed love story, “Dacoit” stars Adivi Sesh, Mrunal Thakur, and Anurag Kashyap in pivotal roles. The film marks the directorial debut of cinematographer Shaneil Deo and is produced by Supriya Yarlagadda.
