The Tamil film industry is reeling with a number of divorces. Recently, actor Dhanush and music directors GV Prakash Kumar and D Imman announced their separation from their respective wives.
Now, Jayam Ravi has announced his decision to “proceed with the dissolution of marriage” with his wife Aarti.
He wrote, “After much thought, reflections and discussions, I have taken the difficult decision to proceed with the dissolution of my marriage with Aarti. This decision was not made out of haste and it stems from personal reasons that I believe are in the best interests of everyone involved.”
They have been married for 15 years. They have two sons.
People often regard Jayam Ravi as the most family-oriented member of the Tamil film industry, largely untainted by controversies and gossip. His announcement came as a surprise, though his wife Aarti deleted all his pictures from Instagram last month, sparking off rumors about their divorce.
Jayam Ravi was recently seen as the title character in Mani Ratnam’s blockbuster movies ‘Ponniyan Selvan 1 and 2.’
