Avinash Kolla about Peddi

Production designer Avinash Kolla interacted with the media and shared insights about “Peddi,” the Ram Charan starrer gearing up for release on June 4, 2026. Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, the film is set against a period backdrop and demanded extensive set work to recreate the Uttarandhra and Vizianagaram regions.

Avinash Kolla revealed that the team spent over a year in pre-production, creating detailed miniatures before executing the actual sets. “All the sets were constructed in open grounds and shot in natural light to maintain authenticity,” he said.

One of the biggest challenges was designing a hill station town. “We created it Booth Bungalow in Jubilee Hills in Hyderabad. On screen, it will look like a town nestled under a hill,” he explained, adding that the execution was particularly demanding.

He also highlighted the seamless coordination with director Buchi Babu Sana and spoke about a sugarcane factory featured in the film, which too was entirely built as a set. “The beauty is that audiences won’t even realize they are looking at constructed sets,” he added.

In total, 24 major sets were built from scratch, along with 60 to 70 additional setups. “For a film of this scale and star cast, we can’t shoot just anywhere. We need controlled environments. The Vizianagaram set, for instance, was maintained for nearly a year, allowing us to shoot anytime and in all weather conditions,” he noted.

Aviniash Kolla also mentioned that even smaller details, like the bat used by the protagonist, were carefully designed to appear organic and rooted in realism, reflecting the character’s background and mannerisms.
