Pastham Mogilaiah, aka Mogili, who shot to fame by rendering an elegy with his wife Komuramma in the blockbuster “Balagam,’ passed away on Thursday morning after battling kidney and heart-related ailments in Warangal.
Due to damage to two kidneys, Mogilaiah has been undergoing dialysis thrice. A native of Duggondi village in Warangal, his wife is looking after him in their two-room house.
Mogilaiah became famous by rendering an elegy with his wife, Komuramma, in the 2023 movie ‘Balagam,’ which became a sensation in Telangana. The couple was born into a traditional community of folk artists known as ‘Sharadakandru’ of the ‘Beda Budaga Jangala’ community.
Several film personalities and political leaders paid tributes to him and recalled how much his song in the film had touched their souls.
