Vijay Kanakamedala, who made his directorial debut with “Naandhi,” is now gearing up for the release of his latest film “Bhairavam,” starring Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas. The film is slated to hit theaters on May 30, 2025.
However, the film has recently found itself at the center of controversy. A social media campaign calling for a boycott of “Bhairavam” gained traction yesterday, driven largely by fans of Ram Charan and Chiranjeevi. The uproar was sparked by an old Facebook post that resurfaced, allegedly showing Vijay liking or sharing a meme that mocked the mega family. The meme, based on the Bollywood film “Paa”, had its title altered to “Cha” in a seemingly derogatory reference to Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan.
In response to the backlash, Vijay Kanakamedala took to social media to issue an apology.
He clarified that the post in question dates back to 2011, and claimed that either his account was hacked at the time or the post was fabricated using his name. “Whatever the reason, I sincerely apologize,” he stated.
Vijay further emphasized his long-standing admiration for the mega family, noting that he worked as an assistant director on “Gabbar Singh” and has always respected Chiranjeevi, Pawan Kalyan, and Ram Charan.
