Several new Telugu films were released in theaters around the world last weekend. ‘Mem Famous,’ ‘Malli Pelli,’ ‘2018’ (dubbed film), and ‘MenToo’ are among them. But it was the holdover film ‘Bichagadu 2’ that outperformed all of the new releases over the weekend.
‘Mem Famous,’ a low-budget film starring newcomers that generated a lot of buzz before its release, had a big opening day for its genre. However, negative reviews and poor word-of-mouth have harmed its prospects. The film did not fare well on Saturday and Sunday, and thus ended up being a disappointment. Despite this, the film did well in terms of collections for its range.
Before its release, ”Malli Pellli” sparked a lot of controversy and buzz. With their relationship, Naresh and Pavitra Lokesh made headlines. Among all Telugu new releases, ‘Malli Pelli’ is the best narrated, better structured. However, audiences did not flock to the theaters.
‘2018,’ a Telugu remake of a Malayalam blockbuster of the same name, had a slow start but recovered with positive word-of-mouth and reviews. Its numbers, however, are small.
‘Bichagadu 2’, on the other hand, bounced back and saw an increase in collections in its second weekend. This is a super hit.
A poorly promoted film called ‘MenToo’ was a flop. Nobody was interested in watching it. The film also received the lowest ratings of any new release.
