Box office: A shocking result for Vishwaksen’s Laila

“Laila” received a lot of attention for several reasons, including Vishwaksen’s promotional efforts and political controversy. No film in recent times has remained in the news headlines or social media arena for as long as “Laila.” While members of a political party called for a boycott of the film, an equal number of people backed both the team and the film. Despite this, “Laila” was a huge flop.

The film, starring Vishwaksen as Sonu, a beauty parlor owner who disguises himself as a woman named Laila to avoid a conflict, premiered in theaters on February 14, 2025. The film received the lowest ratings from critics. Even when films receive unfavorable reviews, they open big at the box office and make substantial money in their first weekend. However, this film failed from the start. The producer lost his whole investment in the theatrical business.

The other film that hit theaters last weekend was “Brahma Anandam,” which starred legendary comedian Brahmanandam and his son Raja Gowtham as grandfather and grandson. Critics praised the film’s fundamental theme and message. However, the execution was not really interesting. Nonetheless, it received some appreciation. The team never hoped for the picture to have a huge opening. So, the team expects more non-theatrical money.

Chhaava and Captain America shine in Hyd

The Hyderabad crowd preferred the Bollywood film “Chhaava” starring Vicky Kaushal and Rashmika Mandanna. On Saturday and Sunday, the film’s box office increased significantly. The Hollywood blockbuster “Captain America: Brave New World” grossed huge money at Hyderabad multiplexes.
