After a challenging period marked by high-profile flops such as “Hari Hara Veera Mallu” and “War 2”, the Telugu film industry is finally witnessing a much-needed revival at the box office this September. The month is shaping up to be lucrative, with smaller films making a significant impact.
The small-budget “Little Hearts” has emerged as a surprise hit, raking in impressive collections during its first week. Meanwhile, the dubbed release “Lokah” has also managed to secure steady earnings.
This weekend saw the release of “Kishkindhapuri” and “Mirai”, both registering strong openings. Among them, “Mirai” generated substantial hype and delivered a remarkable performance, collecting approximately Rs 12 crore domestically on its first day, along with an additional Rs 3 crore from overseas markets.
On the other hand, “Kishkindhapuri” received comparatively positive word-of-mouth, especially when measured against Bellamkonda Sai Srinivas’ past ventures, though its opening was more modest.
With the highly anticipated “OG” poised to storm the box office on 25th September, industry insiders are optimistic that this momentum will continue. The prolonged revenue drought appears to be over, signaling a promising turnaround for Telugu cinema.
