As the release of “Kuberaa” approaches, the film’s lead stars began promoting the film. At the film’s song launch in Mumbai, Dhanush, Nagarjuna, and Rashmika Mandannashared their experiences of working on what they each described as a deeply meaningful and unique project.
Directed by Shekhar Kammula, “Kuberaa” was shot extensively in real locations and features a different shade of storytelling.
Dhanush
“Kuberaa is a very special and very different film, one that is close to my heart. Shooting it was a fantastic experience, and working with Nagarjuna garu was a great pleasure. I play a beggar in the film. I didn’t do any research, as I simply followed my director’s vision. Shekhar garu is a brilliant and pure-hearted filmmaker, and I did this film because of him. It’s an honest film that reminded me of my childhood. Rashmika and I even shot for seven hours in a dumpyard.”
Nagarjuna
“Kuberaa is a very special film for me as well. I wanted to do something different when Shekhar approached me. I’ve been interacting with him for the past 15 years, and when he narrated this story, I agreed instantly. He is an amazing filmmaker with remarkable sensibilities.”
Rashmika Mandanna
“Kuberaa was a wonderful experience for me as an actress — an eye-opener in many ways. We shot everything in real locations, which made the process even more immersive. It was a pleasure working alongside Nagarjuna sir and Dhanush garu, and collaborating with Shekhar garu was truly enriching. I hope the audience appreciates my performance in this film.”
“Kuberaa” is slated to hit the theaters on June 20.
