Diwali releases wrap up their first week with mixed results

Four films released last week aiming to capitalize on the Diwali festive season. However, their box office performances varied widely.
“Mithra Mandali” crashed on the very first day, disappearing from the public radar almost instantly.
Siddhu Jonnalagadda’s “Telusu Kada” opened to a lukewarm response and failed to show any upward trend. By the end of its first week, it managed to collect only Rs 8.5 crore net, marking it as a flop.
Meanwhile, Pradeep Ranganathan’s bilingual film “Dude” turned out to be the best performer of the bunch. The dubbed version fared decently in Telugu states, collecting Rs 12 crore net in its first week, while the film’s total worldwide gross in both Tamil and Telugu crossed Rs 100 crore.
Kiran Abbavaram’s “K-Ramp” wraps up its first week today with a net collection of around Rs 11 crore. The film is eyeing a steady second weekend and, for now, looks headed toward an average grosser status.
