Diwali Weekend BO: Kantara and Sardar take the lead

The Deepavali weekend saw the release of four new films in the theaters. But neither of them made big money as the holdover movie ‘Kantara’ continued its sway. Among the four new releases, Karthi’s ‘Sardar’ took the top spot.

‘Sardar’ won better reviews among the four new releases and also became the first choice for the audiences. Given the low costs involved for the Telugu dubbed version, ‘Sardar’ should emerge as a profitable film by the end of its run. The thriller is a clear winner among the Diwali releases.

Vishwak Sen starrer ‘Ori Devuda’ failed to take bumper openings. A remake of the Tamil movie, ‘Ori Devuda’ made a decent opening on the first day, but it could not pick up the collections.

‘Prince’, another dubbed movie starring Sivkarthikeyan, also tanked at the box office. The film took good openings on the first day but saw a huge drop on the second day as the word-of-mouth was not encouraging. Directed by ‘Jathi Ratnalu Anudeep, the film will end up as a flop.

Manchu Vishnu’s ‘Ginna’ had no takers anywhere. It registered shameful numbers.
