Exclusive: Acharya gets 18 Cr for early streaming on Amazon

‘Acharya’ starring megastar Chiranjeevi and Ram Charan turned out to be a dud. The film almost wound up its run in the theaters even before the end of the first week. Directed by Koratala Siva, ‘Acharya’ has become one of the all-time biggest disasters in the Telugu film industry.

Seeing the result, the makers of ‘Acharya’ have made a wise decision: allowing the Amazon streaming service to stream it after three weeks, instead of four weeks. The film will stream on Amazon much before the scheduled time. In other words, ‘Acharya’ will be available for streaming for the audiences in May itself.

The makers will get Rs 18 Cr additionally as a bonus for agreeing to early streaming. Amazon paid a hefty amount for the film’s OTT rights. It has further shelled another Rs 18 crore.

‘Acharya’ is produced by Niranjan Reddy.

Prabhas’s ‘Radhe Shyam’ also opted for early streaming when the film tanked in the theaters. Now, ‘Acharya’ follows the suit.
