Fans and film lovers stunned by the detailing in Varanasi’s VFX

The video glimpse of Varanasi, a sort of curtain-raiser to the film’s core theme, initially received average reactions when screened on the gigantic RFC screen and during its JioHotstar streaming. However, once the video was uploaded on YouTube in 4K resolution, viewers, fans, and movie lovers began appreciating the extraordinary detailing in the visual effects.

Headed by Srinivas Mohan, Rajamouli’s trusted VFX supervisor in recent years, the teaser showcases some mind-boggling visuals with stunning levels of detail.

If you pause and examine each frame, Rajamouli’s imagination and meticulous vision become even more evident.

An interesting aspect fans noticed is that Mahesh Babu’s presence can be spotted in nearly all parts of the teaser, though only on closer inspection. Fans identified the parachuting figure as Mahesh Babu. They also pointed out that the person handing over the rope to an animal (apparently a monkey) escaping giant crocodiles is also Mahesh Babu. Another highlight is Priyanka Chopra’s Mandakini falling into a deep cave, while Mahesh Babu’s character hangs on a cliff trying to save her.

The massive battle sequence involving Lord Sri Ram and the Vanara Sena also features Mahesh Babu riding a chariot, with Prithviraj Sukumaran’s character seated behind him.

“Varanasi” blends time travel with the Ramayana epic, incorporating rich fantasy elements. But this three-minute teaser is receiving overwhelming praise for its imagery, Rajamouli’s vision, Srinivas Mohan’s VFX craftsmanship, and PS Vinod’s lighting and color gradients. The amount of detailing packed into every frame is astonishing.
