In February 2023, the second month of this year, more than 20 films were released in theatres, but none of them became blockbusters. However, a couple of them turned out to be decent earners. A look at the films that worked and didn’t work in February.

Successes

Writer Padmabhushan

With ‘Color Photo,’ comedian Suhas established himself as a hero. His second film as a hero, ‘Writer Padmabhushan,’ received a lot of attention. The film received favourable ratings and reviews. It’s no surprise that it was a big hit. Surprisingly, it became a huge hit in the United States, resulting in increased profits for the distributor.

Sir

“Sir” is a film starring acclaimed Tamil actor Dhanush. Venky Atluri directed the period drama, which was billed as Dhanush’s first Telugu film. It was a good success in the Telugu states. It also performed well for a Dhanush film in the United States.

Respectable numbers, but…

“Vinaro Bhagyamu Vishnu Katha,” starring Kiran Abbavaram, had a strong start. The film did well at the box office in the first three days. It was not a complete disaster. Neither was a hit.

Flops

‘Michael,’ another flop from Sundeep Kishan. He attempted to capitalise on the popularity of pan-Indian films, but this gangster drama was a flop.

“Butta Bomma,” a remake of a Malayalam film, failed to make a good first impression.

Nandamuri Kalyan Ram delivered a big dud this year after scoring the biggest hit of his career last year. In ‘Amigos,’ Kalyan Ram played three characters. However, the film had a shockingly low opening weekend. It was a colossal failure.
