Alia Bhatt has proved it again. She can pull the audience to the theaters. Director Sanjay Bhansali’s ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ was released amidst uncertainty on February 25th. Still, it has managed to bring in Rs 39 crore in India in the three days.
What’s important is that the film has shown a jump in the collections on Saturday and Sunday after word-of-mouth spread.
Plus, ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ performed in the USA better than other biggies like ‘Bheemla Nayak’ and ‘Valimai’ on Sunday. The film has grossed $1 million in the USA despite the mighty competitor ‘Bheemla Nayak’, which has collected a whopping $2 million in the first weekend.
Bhansali has proved once again that he would bring in audiences irrespective of the star cast. And Alia Bhatt is one of the few female stars who have strong opening power.
