Is Dhanush losing his commercial pull?

Dhanush is widely respected as a performer, with multiple National Awards and a filmography spanning Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, and even international projects. However, his recent box office track record paints a different picture, with several films failing to make a strong commercial impact.

Kuberaa, directed by Sekhar Kammula, performed moderately in Telugu but did not fare well in Tamil. His Hindi outing “Tere Ishk Mein” saw a modest response, while “Idly Kadai” ended up as an average grosser in Tamil.

His latest release, Kara, opened in both Tamil and Telugu but failed to click at the box office in either market. With no major blockbuster in recent years, questions are being raised about his current market pull.

While Dhanush continues to earn praise for his acting, the lack of consistent commercial success has sparked debate on whether audiences now view him more as a performer than a bankable star.
