But now for an interesting update. She is not the obvious choice for the part. Given her strong performances, the producers thought Sai Pallavi would be the best fit for the role originally played by Jyothika and Sobhana. Sobhana played the role in the Malayalam film “Manichitrathazhu” in 1993, and director P Vasu based his 2005 film “Chandramukhi” on it, with Jyothika playing the title role.
However, Sai Pallavi declined the offer. She is adamantly opposed to reprising roles played by other actors.
So, after Sai Pallavi turned down the offer, the producers approached Kangana Ranaut. Is Sai Pallavi’s decision to reject Chadnramukhi 2 a wise one? The answer will be revealed only on September 15, when the film is released in theaters.
The sequel to “Chandramukhi,” starring Raghava Lawerence and Kangana, will be released next week (September 15).
