It’s official: Vijay’s ‘Jana Nayagan’ arrives in theaters on July 23
Tamil superstar Vijay’s final film as an actor, Jana Nayagan, is officially set to release in theaters on July 23. Vijay himself confirmed the release date on social media, with the announcement also made by the production house.
The film was originally scheduled to hit theaters on January 9, 2026, but faced multiple delays due to legal issues and censor-related hurdles. After recently clearing the censor process with an A certificate, the makers have now locked July 23 as the new release date.
Directed by H. Vinoth and produced by KVN Productions, “Jana Nayagan” is the official remake of the Telugu blockbuster Bhagavanth Kesari, which starred Nandamuri Balakrishna. The film features Pooja Hegde as the female lead, while Mamitha Baiju plays a pivotal role.
The film will also be released in Telugu under the title “Jana Nayakudu.”
“Jana Nayagan” marks Vijay’s farewell to cinema following his successful transition into politics. After leading his TVK party to victory, he was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu and is currently serving in office. The film’s release has therefore generated immense excitement among both his fans and party supporters.
