Malayalam director Basil Joseph hints at ‘Icon Star’ project

Reports about Malayalam filmmaker Basil Joseph directing Allu Arjun have been circulating for more than a year. Earlier, it was widely rumored that Basil would helm the reboot of Shaktiman, the Hindi superhero film, with Allu Arjun in the lead. However, those reports were later denied.

Now, Basil has once again sparked speculation. The filmmaker recently shared an Instagram post featuring a cap with the word “Icon” printed on it.

Since Allu Arjun is popularly known as the “Icon Star,” fans quickly interpreted it as a subtle hint about a possible collaboration. The comments section was soon filled with congratulatory messages and fire emojis. He also shared an Instagram Story with this post and added ‘Ringa Ringa’ song from Allu Arjun’s film.

Industry buzz now suggests that Basil recently narrated a fresh script to Allu Arjun, who reportedly gave it the nod. Geetha Arts is said to be backing the project.

For now, Allu Arjun is occupied with Atlee’s Raaka. He is then expected to move on to Lokesh Kanagaraj’s AA23. If everything goes as planned, the Basil Joseph project is likely to begin after that.
