Kamalinee Mukherjee, who once ruled the hearts of Telugu audiences with her charm and elegance, has finally opened up about why she stepped away from films.
She made a dream debut in Sekhar Kammula’s “Anand” and went on to feature in several hits such as Style, Gamyam, Godavari, and Gopi Gopika Godavari. She also shared screen space with senior stars like Venkatesh in Nagavalli and Nagarjuna in Shirdi Sai.
However, after appearing alongside Ram Charan in “Govindudu Andari Vaadele” (2014), Kamalinee stopped signing Telugu films. She later appeared in a few Malayalam and Tamil projects before quietly stepping away from the industry.
Now at 41, the actress revealed the reason behind her decision.
“After watching my role in a film, I felt I should not take up such roles. If directors feel I’m not important to the story and my role can be chopped off during editing, then I thought it was time to leave Telugu cinema,” Kamalinee Mukherjee said.
