‘Kantara: Chapter 1’ Trailer: A tale of folklore and faith

The much-awaited prequel to the mega blockbuster “Kantara” is gearing up for release. The makers unveiled the trailer of “Kantara: Chapter 1” today in five languages.
Written, directed by, and starring Rishab Shetty, the film explores the mythological roots of coastal Karnataka’s folklore. The trailer opens with a boy questioning his father’s mysterious disappearance, before shifting to the struggles of tribal communities living deep in the forest, who seek protection through the divine intervention of Lord Shiva.
Rishab Shetty is seen in intense action sequences, while Gulshan Devaiah plays a ruthless royal antagonist Kulashekara. Rukmini Vasanth features as a graceful princess who falls in love with Shetty’s character. The narrative builds toward a battle for Dharma, as the king vows to destroy both the hero Kantara and the trible.
The trailer blends folklore, spirituality, and grand visuals, though it also hints at a somewhat predictable storyline.
Produced by Hombale Films, “Kantara: Chapter 1” is set for a worldwide release on October 2, 2025.
