Manchu Vishnu is elated. After a long gap, one of his films has not only opened big but is also performing well at the box office. More notably, “Kannappa” has become the first film in recent years from him to escape widespread trolling.
“It’s all Lord Shiva’s blessing. Audiences not only overlooked the film’s flaws but also connected with it emotionally by the end and spread positive word of mouth. That’s the biggest achievement of my life. Kannappa will be my calling card for the rest of my career,” Vishnu shared.
He candidly admitted that the film had its share of shortcomings including weak visual effects and a less engaging first half.
“It was the final hour that changed the film’s fate. Some say Prabhas’s arrival turned the tide, but I believe the scene with Sarath Kumar and me was the actual turning point. Of course, with Prabhas’s massive stardom, the audience became even more invested from that point onward,” he added.
Vishnu also revealed that several good sequences were left out of the final cut due to subpar VFX. “Even then, a few scenes with weak visual effects made it into the film. We won’t repeat such mistakes again. It was a learning experience,” he admitted.
He concluded emotionally, “I went through a lot of trolling and humiliation during this journey. But my father and my wife stood by me like a rock. I’ll forever be grateful to them. I also thank the audience and media for looking past the flaws and embracing my film.”
