Nagarjuna has officially confirmed that he will be playing the villain in “Coolie,” the much-anticipated film starring Rajinikanth and directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj. This marks a significant shift in his career, as he embraces antagonist and character roles while still being a lead actor in other projects.
In a series of interviews promoting his upcoming film “Kuberaa,” Nagarjuna opened up about his decision to take on a negative role in “Coolie.” He revealed that when director Lokesh Kanagaraj approached him, he said, “If you don’t want to play a villain, I’ll just have my coffee and leave.” However, Nagarjuna was so impressed with the narration that he immediately agreed to take on the role.
Recalling an on-set moment, Nagarjuna said, “When Lokesh asked me to behave in an even more evil way, I asked him if such people really exist. He simply replied, ‘People are evil.’”
While Nagarjuna is gearing up for his milestone 100th film as a protagonist, he has clearly signaled a new phase in his career—one that embraces layered, impactful roles beyond the conventional hero.
