Nagarjuna puts hold on Bejawada’s project tentatively

Nagarjuna and Bejawada Prasanna Kumar

Bejawada Prassanna Kumar is the writer of successful films such as “Nenu Local” and “Dhamaka.” He is also one of the highest-paid writers in Telugu cinema today. He primarily developed scripts and dialogue for director Nakkina Trinadha Rao’s films. But he wanted to make his directorial debut, so he approached Nagarjuna Akkineni and narrated a screenplay that the actor enjoyed so much that he gave him the opportunity to direct.

Srinivasa Chitturi came on board as the producer.

Nagarjuna was so thrilled with Prasanna Kumar’s plot that he appreciated him for writing such a fantastic script. The issue began a few days later, when Nagarjuna read news that Bejawada Prasanna Kumar was remaking a Malayalam film. He asked Prasanna if the news was true, to which the writer replied that he had just borrowed four scenes from the aforementioned Malayalam film, Porinju Mariam Jose (2019).

However, a few days later, another producer, Abhishek Agarwal, released a statement claiming that he owns the remake rights to “Porinju Mariam Jose” and that any attempts to adapt it without his permission will result in legal action.

This created unnecessary gap between all parties. The latest status is that Nagarajuna has put on hold this film for sometime until the issue of remake rights gets settled. They are looking for an amicable way to take this project without any hurdles.
