Speculation has been rife that Megastar Chiranjeevi and Nandamuri Balakrishna could lock horns at the Sankranthi 2027 box office. However, reliable sources tell us that such a clash is unlikely, as neither star is planning to release a film during the festival against the other.

Chiranjeevi’s long-delayed fantasy drama, “Vishwambhara”, is now expected to arrive for the Dasara season. According to industry buzz, the makers have zeroed in on October 16 as the new release date. While an official announcement is still awaited, the production house reportedly considers this to be the final release plan after several postponements.

If “Vishwambhara” indeed releases during Dasara, Chiranjeevi’s next film with director Bobby is unlikely to make it to Sankranthi 2027. Releasing two Chiranjeevi films within a gap of just a few months would not be an ideal strategy, making it more likely that Bobby’s project will be pushed to a later date.

Meanwhile, Balakrishna’s action entertainer with Gopichand Malineni, NBK111, is progressing at a brisk pace. The team is reportedly eyeing a December 4 release. However, that date is expected to be occupied by Prabhas’s “Fauji”. With Netflix reportedly keen on ensuring “Fauji” releases before the end of 2026, the Prabhas starrer is currently targeting December 4.

If that plan holds, NBK111 could vacate the December slot and instead arrive during the Sankranthi 2027 festival. A clearer picture is expected to emerge over the next few weeks as the release calendars take shape.
