Maestro Ilayaraja landed in political controversy after he had compared Prime Minister Narendra Modi with Dr. BR Ambedkar. In a forward written for the book ‘Ambedkar & Modi – Reformer’s Ideas, Performer’s Implementation’, Ilayaraja said that Modi is doing what Ambedkar dreamed for India.
The ruling party members of Tamilnadu have made strong comments against the music legend Ilayaraja, terming him a Sanghi. They termed him an agent of RSS.
Netizens got also divided over Ilayaraja. While some are praising him, others are trending against him.
Ilayaraja is the only music composer in India who has scored music for more than 1400 movies. The veteran music director is revered as the god of music by music lovers and fans. But his political leanings toward BJP and Modi have put him in a controversy. The anti-Modi groups even went to the extent of boycotting his shows.
Generally, his old melodious songs get to the trending topics on social media, but now his name has become a hashtag for political reasons.
