The teaser for “War 2” received mixed reactions upon its release. While neutral audiences viewed it as a generic action drama, some criticized NTR’s appearance, saying he looked rigid and failed to match Hrithik Roshan’s on-screen aura.
Now, there’s clarity on why NTR was styled this way.
Costume designer Anaita Shroff Adajania, who worked on War 2, revealed that NTR’s look was deliberately crafted to make him appear as a “human machine” — sharp, precise, and methodical in his movements. In this context, NTR’s performance aligns perfectly with the character’s design.
Speaking about her experience of collaborating with NTR for the first time, Anaita said, “Working with NTR on War 2 was a discovery and an absolute joy. There’s a rawness to his presence, like a human machine operating with purpose. We selected rugged, masculine pieces like leather and heavy jackets to reflect this theme.”
She also added that enhancing NTR’s masculine persona on screen was a rewarding creative process.
“War 2” marks NTR’s debut in Hindi cinema and is the second installment in the blockbuster “War” franchise. NTR will be seen playing a spy with negative shades, while Hrithik Roshan returns as a RAW agent.
Directed by Ayan Mukerji and produced by Aditya Chopra, “War 2” is slated for release on August 14, 2025.
