OTT delay hits Puri’s Slumdog and Akhil’s Lenin
The makers of “Slumdog” and “Lenin” are currently waiting to lock their OTT deals as negotiations continue with streaming platforms.
Directed by Puri Jagannadh, “Slumdog” has already completed its shoot. The film stars Vijay Sethupathi, along with Samyuktha and Tabu in key roles. Despite its strong casting, the team is yet to finalize a release date, as they aim to secure a lucrative OTT deal first.
Produced by Puri Jagannadh and Charmme Kaur, the film is said to be quoting a high price. However, leading platforms like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video are reportedly negotiating hard before closing deals in the current market scenario.
On the other hand, Akhil Akkineni’s “Lenin” is also facing delays in finalizing its OTT rights. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release on June 26, but the digital deal is still pending. Trade buzz suggests that Akhil’s lack of a solid box office track record is impacting the valuation discussions.
Overall, both projects are expected to finalize their OTT deals within the next couple of weeks, as producers hold out for favorable pricing from digital platforms.
