OTT Release: Ghaati debuts on Prime Video

In a surprise move, Amazon Prime Video has quietly premiered Anushka Shetty’s “Ghaati” without any official announcement or promotional build-up.
Directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, “Ghaati” hit theaters on September 5 but failed to make an impact at the box office. Now, it has found a new lease of life on the streaming platform, coinciding with the Dasara festive season.
A female-centric drama, “Ghaati” sees Anushka Shetty in the role of Sheelavathi, a “ghaati” (one who hails from the ghat region). The story revolves around ganja cultivation and smuggling along the Andhra–Odisha border. Shot extensively in Koraput, Odisha, the film also showcases the region’s picturesque landscapes, which have since become a tourist attraction.
Plot Synopsis:
On the Andhra–Odisha border, the ganja trade flourishes under the ruthless Kaastala Naidu (Ravindra Vijay). When Sheelavathi (Anushka Shetty) and Desi Raju (Vikram Prabhu) break away to start their own operation, Naidu retaliates, devastating their lives and leaving Sheelavathi with a profound personal loss. Pushed to the brink, she rises to deliver a searing tale of revenge.
