The promotional material of “Peddi” so far, including the title glimpse and posters, has shown Ram Charan playing cricket, leading many to assume he is portraying a rural cricketer in this Uttarandhra-set drama. The film has largely been positioned as a sports action entertainer.
However, sources reveal that “Peddi” is not a straightforward sports film, nor does Ram Charan play a mere cricketer.
Insiders say his character is proficient in multiple sports including cricket, wrestling and other rural games, and participates in them to earn money. A significant portion of the narrative reportedly revolves around wrestling. This also explains his intense physical transformation.
Ram Charan built a heavier, rugged physique under the guidance of coach Shivohaam to achieve a beast-like look for the role.
Directed by Buchi Babu Sana, who earlier debuted with “Uppena” after working with Sukumar, “Peddi” is said to be an emotional drama packed with powerful episodes. The screenplay is reportedly gripping, and the climax is expected to deliver goosebumps.
The film’s second single “Rai Rai Raa Raa” will be released on March 2, while the movie is slated to hit theatres on April 30. Janhvi Kapoor plays the female lead.
