Peddi's first single 'Chikiri Chikiri': Catchy and appealing

Just days after the team officially announced April 30 as the release date for “Peddi,” fresh industry buzz suggests that the film may not make it to theaters as planned. While the makers, along with Jio Studios, confirmed the date and Hindi distribution partnership, internal developments hint at a possible postponement.

According to reports, distributors have already been informed about a likely change in release plans. Though no new date has been finalized, May 21 is being considered as one option, with the last week of June also under discussion. A clearer picture is expected to emerge within a week.

So, what is causing the delay?

The film still has significant shooting left. Two songs, including a special number, are yet to be filmed, with each expected to take around four to five days. In addition, nearly 10 days of patchwork shooting is currently underway. In total, about 20 days of filming remains.

To meet the April 30 deadline, the team would need to wrap up shooting by around April 20, leaving very little time for post-production. Given the current pace, this timeline appears difficult to achieve.

Industry insiders point to director Buchi Babu’s planning as a key reason. It is said that the songs could have been completed earlier this year, which would have allowed smoother scheduling of the remaining portions. The delay in wrapping these sequences has now put pressure on the overall timeline.

That said, Buchi Babu continues to receive praise for presenting Ram Charan in a striking wrestler avatar and for extracting strong musical output from A. R. Rahman. However, the same production choices are now drawing criticism for potentially pushing the film’s release.

For now, all eyes are on the official announcement regarding the new release date for “Peddi.”
