“Kalki 2898 AD” is having a dream run in North America. The film earned an additional $850k on Monday, bringing its total to $12 million. The Prabhas starrer is now on track to gross $15 million by this weekend.
According to current trends, the film could reach $20 million. The film’s massive success cemented Prabhas’ status as the king of the overseas market. He is the only Indian movie star, after Shah Rukh Khan, to have two films grossing more than $12 million in North America.
Celebrities, on the other hand, are giving the film high marks.
Director Atlee, Bollywood actor Varun Dhawan, and director Shankar are the latest celebrities to praise the film as a terrific entertainer and commend director Nag Ashwin for raising the bar for visuals in an Indian film.
Prabhas played the lead in “Kalki 2898 AD,” which also starred Deepika Padukone as Sumati and Amitabh Bachchan as Ashwattham. It also starred Kamal Haasan as the supreme Yakshin.
