Producers Guild to sort out release date issue

The Active Telugu Film Producers Guild (ATFPG) has decided to convene a meeting this week to sort out the release date issue. As Rajamouli’s ‘RRR’ announced its release date as of January 7, disturbing the release schedule of Sankranthi movies, some producers are seething with anger. Megastar Chiranjeevi starrer ‘Acharya’ is not able to find a date.

With every big Telugu film projecting it as a pan-Indian project and seeking a festival or holiday for their release, it has become a headache for scheduling the flow. So, the Guild is intervening. The Guild will see that every biggie gets breathing space between two releases, and mid and small films also get their due space.

The producers of ‘Acharya’ and ‘Pushpa’ will come to an understanding shortly. ‘Acharya’ is looking at December 24th release. Will ‘Pushpa’ stick to December 17th date or get postponed? It will be decided at the Guild meeting.

Directed by Koratala Siva, ‘Acharya’ began its regular shoot three years ago. The two waves of the pandemic have delayed the release. ‘Bheemla Nayak’ and ‘Sarkaru Vaari Paata’, were scheduled to hit on Jan 12 and Jan 13th. But the makers of ‘Bheemla Nayak’ have not yet given their confirmation about postponing it.

If Guild doesn’t sort out the issue, it will slowly snowball into a big controversy.
